
Sylvi C. Brown
has over thirty years of public relations, marketing, and corporate communication
experience specifically in the entertainment and hospitality arena. Working both
in an agency setting and running in-house communications departments, Sylvi has
extensive experience in creating and executing public relations and marketing
strategies for actors, musicians, celebrities, authors, entrepreneurs, classical
music groups and organizations, restaurants and entertainment companies.
Sylvi was Director of Corporate Entertainment for Guttman Associates, working
with actors, directors and producers, as well as corporate heads such as John
Paul DeJoria of Paul Mitchell Company, and Dr. Michael McGuire who is a legislative
voice for doctors, and a Plastic Surgeon in Santa Monica, Ca.During Brown's years
at Guttman she coordinated publicity and marketing for Earthwalk (1993/1994) and
first two Revlon Run/Walk for Women (1994/1995) including working with logistics.
Previously, Sylvi was a Director in the Motion Picture division for Rogers & Cowan,
where she was responsible for media relations for various film companies, and
feature film campaigns. While at Rogers & Cowan Sylvi spearheaded the national
film promotion campaign for "Rolling Stones at the Max," including co-ordination
of all IMAX theater opening throughout the USA and Canada, plus two locations
in Mexico.
In earlier years Sylvi worked with PMK in Los Angeles and worked
with actors as well motion pictures, including Miramax with the Academy Awards
campaign for My Left Foot with Daniel Day Lewis.
Using her experience in creating
and running public relations campaigns for a variety of companies, Sylvi formed
SCBrown PR in 1995 to provide high-level, personalized service to companies and
individuals looking to get results.
Brown was Acting Publicity Director for
Los Angeles Philharmonic while they searched for a Director (7 months) - and for
Development Dept. for two of the Annual Opening Night Balls (1998-1999.) She was
also independent publicist for Los Angeles Philharmonic's "The Green Umbrella
Series" (New Music series), and Toyota's "Symphony for Youth," for a number of
years.
In the 1980s Brown was Director of Promotions and Marketing at KFAC-FM
radio, in Los Angeles, and Director of Creative Services for KEARTH-FM Radio and
sister station KHJ-AM radio. During that time she supervised on-air promotions,
and created visual concepts for print, TV and outdoor/transit advertising - working
with a budget of $1-2M+.
